unfortunately with whyems turned off and vestigia not installed - i cant load, or start a new game. and im scared to fail long missions because the game would crash sometimes in the "retry" or "restart mission" death screen.
it sucks but i deal with it. if im guessing accurately i have like 40 or 50 mods installed lol@reddeaddiamondsrererededasYou may reinstall them if you want to.

Bump
Currently am facing similiar issues to those in this thread.. and I just wanna say I have never seen a more dedicated man, thank you kind stranger.
I tried looking through all the posts - took me a good 30 minutes or so and i applied alot of the knowledge i had learned but to no avail i am so fucking lost .. i have alot of mods installed, but i went ahead and downloaded the recommended versions of dinput and scripthook, plus LML. i thought i had all my troubles fixed but now it says "error ffff" maybe i have to do a clean install of the game with the ASI mods once again?
I really wouldnt mind if i had to do that nontheless. I can post whatever need be but i think at this point you wizards can guess my problem lol.
Thank you guys -@reddeaddiamondsrererededas If you installed VESTIGIA or Whyems DLC, switch the renderer to vulkan in the config file if not done already. For VESTIGIA, there is a version for people that get the FFFFFF error.

Its been about a week since my last reply, hadn't had a chance to test anything because of work
and other things real life. Having sat and sun off from work helps, so i spent the morning here
and i had uninstalled the latest lml version i was testing before.
And reinstalled the lml_rdr_beta_9 version which is actually the version i was previously using
and at first i just installed one mod, got ingame and it worked, so i had a hunch so i figured i'd restore
the entire number of mods i had backed up.
And the word is ........................................ it works!
So all my mods are working again all asi and lml mods, and to note again this is on a reverted
version of the game.
@Gunter Severloh Glad to see that installing a old version fixed it.

Thanks! But not resolved yet, only things working so far from this revert is all my asi mods,
and the latest version of reshade.
As for lml (lenny's mod loader) the game crashes with it, of course i had all my mods for
lml loaded, so i tried just one and it crashed. I am using the latest lml version however when i was
previously playing prior to the update i had lml_rdr_beta_9 i might try that but idk if it will work.
Any suggestions for lml?
@Gunter Severloh Try beta 10, and if that doesn't work, then try beta 9.

Ok i created a readme for this with links, so im pasting the readme i created below:
Revert your game to previous RDR2 version
A working fix to play RDR2 with mods again
Heres a fix for you guys that will enable you to roll back to the
previous version of RDR2, allowing you to use scripthook and mods.Original poster with this idea btw:
GTA forums scripthook RDR2
https://gtaforums.com/topic/939232-scripthookrdr2/?do=findComment&comment=1071845960I have a fix for you guys that will enable you to roll back to the previous version of RDR2,
thus allowing you to use script hook and mods.========================================================
1) Copy and paste the following URL into your browser: steam://nav/console
2) Allow it to launch Steam. This will open the Steam console window.
3) In the text box at the bottom of the Steam Console window, paste the following:
download_depot 1174180 1174184 58058889817944722604) A few messages will appear in the console window--this will take potentially several minutes.
Wait until you see the message "Depot download complete :"5) Once the depot download finishes, navigate to the following directory on your PC:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_1174180\depot_1174184a) For those of you who may have installed Steam on a different drive or location,
find the root of your Steam installation and continue through the directories from there.6) Copy all of the content from the above directory and paste it into the root of your
RDR2 installation folder allow it to overwrite anything it asks.
7) Launch RDR2 from the RDR2.exe executable in the installation folder.
===============================
Once it was done, i just went to my directory here
H:\Steam\SteamApps\content\app_1174180\depot_1174184
and in that depot_1174184 folder are 8 files, they are the following:- appdata0_update.rpf
- PlayRDR2.exe
- RDR2.exe
- shaders_x64.rpf
- update_1.rpf
- update_2.rpf
- update_3.rpf
- update_4.rpf
Copy or move these to your RDR2 Directory seen here for me:
G:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Red Dead Redemption 2
your computer will ask you to replace or skip, just replace and it will replace the files. After from the directory itself start the game from the RDR2.exe
from there the rockstar game launcher will come up, login if you have to, and start RDR2,it will load like normal and you will be back ingame.
====================
So just remember to clean your directory first use my screenshot as a reference if need be.
Install the scripthook for this version which is here http://www.dev-c.com/rdr2/scripthookrdr2/
Once your all set and you got the game running, and have added mods, COPY the directory
and BACK IT UP!
Up to you, on this version of the game i was running 30+ mods and having a blast, and had 60+ fps performance
all my videos on my RDR2 Utube channel are from this version.
==============
Lastly im still testing with what i did, so far all my asi mods are working, and need to test the lml mods yet.
Hope that helps anyone who wants to get their game back or needs some insight, this is just one way. Cheers!
@Gunter Severloh Glad to see that you resolved your own issue and provided a solution! May add this as an option to my post. Seeing that you had to downgrade, you probably have a mod(s) that doesn't work with the latest version of the game.

Yes and just the rockstar launcher starts up, then the black screen with RS logo and then after that
finishes it closes and then nothing.
@Gunter Severloh I would recommend putting in one asi mod at a time and test.

Update ...
Currently the game is updated to latest version.
I started it with no mods and it started, so np, i loaded my normal game loads fine, even played a little
meh i prefer the mods the arcade side of this game turns me off, its to fast, to much crap on the screen.
What i tried next is reinstalling reshade and the latest version which was updated on the 8th, no luck there
dont start at least i dont think its working as i dont get the message at top left, nor do i know how to bring
the menu up for it.
Regardless game works with the reshade installed whether thats working idk as i dont see any changes.
As for mods i have latest scripthook and native trainer installed, game starts with those, i was even able
to bring up the trainer via F5, perfect np there.
Added a mod, i dont know if it worked, but then i figured i add in all my mods.
So now the game dont start, yay
So heres 4 screenshots of my directory, the top links 3 are the directory itself and the 4th is the lml folder
any ideas of what i should remove or am missing?

3. https://i.imgur.com/FNQWtoJ.png
4. https://i.imgur.com/6BuhAp1.png
Edit ...
I removed dinput8.dll from the main directory and the game started up, so thats something now.
So far the native trainer isn't coming up now, the PhotoModeEnhancercamera.asi is working
this is when you press F6 in 3rd and you can pan around your character and other places and takes screenshots.
As far as other mods go, theres some i know arent working like the walk fix which enables
your character to walk in first person.
@Gunter Severloh Did you install Asi Loader (version.dll) by LMS? If not, it is required to load mods in the first place. You can find it here: https://www.rdr2mods.com/downloads/rdr2/tools/9-rdr-2-asi-loader/

Game wont load for me with mods, and i have that latest scripthook version (May 2022).
I have the version.dll, and the dinput8.dll too.
With or without the version.dll game does same thing.
So whats happening is i verified integrity of cache, restarted steam, even put a new desktop icon on my desktop. I double click it acts like its starting up, i get the yellow rockstar logo,
and then the black box for rockstar acting like its loading.
From there the blackbox goes away and then im sitting there, nothing, i check the taskmanager and nothing, no rockstar launchers there.
I was just playing fine yesterday before the update, running about 30+ mods no issues
i get 60+fps, game runs fine, now it dont even start.
Just a note though, i was using the previous version of the game, because after last update game did the same thing, so i reverted it to previous version and i been playing on that since, so i decided to back that up, and let this update go through and see how things would turn out.
Any ideas what i could do here, other then removing some mods maybe and idk
which ones the game isn't starting. There are a few mods that i know of that arent the latest versions of those mods, only
because i didn't want the changes that were made, so maybe its possible those mods could be the culprit?
Is there a way to find out, like a log?
Someone said somewhere that scripthook needs to be updated again, could that be the reason now?
@Gunter Severloh Try removing dinput8.dll. If that doesn't work, remove all mods then add one at a time and test.

So I have installed the latest version of Scripthook as well as version.dll. I currently get the custom video that plays that shows that LML is working (all of the lml stuff is in the main game folder), but it won't detect the game directory. I'm pulling my hair out because I've been at this for awhile, and I am trying to use a number of mods and need to be able to control the order they load. Any pointers?
Try selecting the game folder itself or try selecting the lml folder.

@WesternGameri'm using an older version of the game, i must to update it or can i download an older version of LML?
@Zsoc You can use an older version of LML but it is recommended to update your game so you can use mods that are updated in the future.

Aah interesting hypothesis, my version is "build 1436.28"
@Eldarinwe Most likely cause. Probably should update as all mods should now work with the latest version of the game.

Hey everyone. I'm fairly new to modding, but I wanted to know if controllers are a viable option when playing a heavily modded single player game. I have a list of 50+ mods I'm planning to install (most are minor gameplay enhancements so I'm hoping my PC can run them all) and I'm not entirely sure if controller inputs will be able to function with all of them. I know that some mods are fully compatible with a controller, but if I can't efficiently manage all my mods with a controller I'd rather just play the game with a keyboard and mouse from the get-go and spare myself the headache.
@javirod800 I would recommend keyboard and mouse as most mods mainly take into account keyboard and mouse only.

What Scripthook version do I need for the RDR2 build "1436.28" because my game always crashes when I try to use LML (I'm on LML vers 😎 I just need the Scripthook version, because I think that's the reason
@veryrareflicks AB's ScriptHook should support any version. Lml probably crashes because beta 10 does not work on 1436.28. Use beta 9 instead. You may need to use version 0.2.1 of asi loader.
I would recommend updating the game as it will become a bigger hassle to install mods over time as the game updates, along with the mods.

I have installed everything that were required like Script Hook, version.dll (from the lmm but i use rampage as a menu) and LML loader it self for mods. I don't know the actual problem, but when i remove LML files from game's director the game runs perfectly.
Can someone pls help me with that? I just wanted to use RDR_Offline mod ;(
@mullergul123 What version of the game are you running? Older versions of RDR2 are not compatible with the latest version of LML.

No, it is already set, this means the lag is coming from somewhere else.

@Ian10 I think it is something to do with LML as it has logging that can get intense, unless you set the logging level to 2 in the lml.ini file.

Hey I did everything for version 10 for Lenny's Trainer but when I hit F5 nothing happens but everything else appears, is there anything I could do to troubleshoot it?
@TheeJimBoyCalloway Make sure that all the files are installed. Make sure that you have the latest scripthook and asi loader. Also if you have another trainer like Rampage, it is recommended to use that instead.

I've followed your tutorial to a t several times now.. I have no idea what i'm doing wrong but I'm assuming that because it plays the shotgun intro instead of your custom one I've messed something up.. only difference is i'm using LmL beta 10 and dinput8.dll
@AmbiguousZenithar Try using version.dll, if you have not already. Also make sure that you install the mod correctly; the folder of the mod should be in the LML folder and the folder of the mod should contain a install.xml file.

I am the creator of the RDR2 Texture Toolkit.
You are probably unable to convert some textures to ytd files because the tool is unable to accept some file texture formats. The tool accepts dds texture files, but there are different versions of dds texture files. This tool is basically the GTA5 Texture Toolkit, but with a ytd file converter that converts GTA5 ytd files to RDR2 ytd files. RDR2 has some dds texture file versions that don't exist in GTA5. You are probably trying to convert one of the dds files that GTA5 does not have, causing the tool to not recognize the file.

Yeah it is working now after doing a clean reinstall of rdr. There was a weird tutorial the first time I installed mods that said it should beep at startup.
I think the problem was that i had 2 asi file loaders installed
edit: Thanks for your help
@Micromot You welcome and thanks for telling that you resolved the issue.

So i can use version.dll as a full replacement to dinput?
I don't use any mods requiring online assets but I have this annoying glitch where I can't donate to beggars, wondering if maybe that would fix it?
@selfmade808 It probably wouldn't, but give it a shot anyways.
[Unofficial] Troubleshooting Guide For Non-Working Mods
in RDR2 Mods Discussion
@Gunter Severloh Stick to that version, as you are using an older version of the game. If you still have issues, try a newer version.
