  1. Just like Dagger said I would avoid upscalers altogether. If you got an NVIDIA card then DLDSR + DLSS (or DLAA via DLSSTweaks) is a perfect combination. If you are going to use DLSSTweaks I'd say use the latest DLSS; if you prefer DLDSR + DLSS then go with v2.5.1. Avoid using the ingame resolution upscaler too, since it aggravates the VRAM leaking issues.
  2. Thanks for the intel on the trains and schedules, it's been really helpful. I have been doing some testing and just as you pointed out yesterday Stutter Fix has absolutely no impact on trains nor animal spawns. But good news end there for me sadly lmao. I ended up using Railroad Engineering to reassure if OCU and Smoking Complete were causing issues on my end and yeah, bingo. I had very inconsistent trains when isolating those two mods (I waited a whole ingame day around Bard's Crossing and didn't see a single train. Crazy). It would be wonderful if someone else could also test those two mods so we can compare the results.
  3. Yeah it's such a mess even the official wiki page states that "they just spawn randomly" even though there are lots of schedules posted online. I'm not using Railroad Engineer either, not for testing, not for anything. If mods are the problem of game engine being altered and acting up, then using a mod to test stuff is just plain absurd. Besides, the mod itself is outdated, and it has been reported by several users that it introduces the very same problems we here are trying to solve: the train spawning. It's illogical to use it for troubleshooting.
  4. Wait what? Does that mean that I need to reapply ingame graphic settings every time I open the game? Is the graphic settings menu broken too? I don't get it.
  5. If you install a couple retexture mods and/or dare to touch ped pools you can see RDR2 turning into a PS2 game, in terms of how little things are shown up on screen.
  6. The whole situation is very funny. If you take a look at Nexus, the most downloaded mods are probably the most broken or rather the ones giving more problems. PDO is quite a mess, making practically impossible to progress through the story with it enabled. RampageTrainer breaks the game when you die and restart a mission. And, yeah, let's not talk about WhyEm'sDLC, which basically kills every dynamic activity in the open world. Mods in this game, in its current state, are a nice little playground, meaning they are just experimental tools to fool around for a bit and then uninstall them (if you actually care about the base game mechanics and funcionalities working properly that is). But that doesn't mean there is no possible fix. I believe there is and that is what this thread is about. Vanilla game is wonderful as it is - for the most part at least - so I understand what you are saying, but this site is about mods so we are just trying to get this issue more attention and maybe ultimately find a way to bypass it or even fix it. It's not about compatibility, nor about having too many outdated mods installed at once. Simple scripts can, and will break the game. In my experience using OCU + RDO does introduce some inconsistencies with the train spawning system.
  7. Thank you. Gonna do the same in the upcoming days. I was trying to avoid using it, because of many other users' reports about the mod itself causing train spawning issues, lmao. Since mods altogether are part of the problem I avoided it, but anyway I'm going to try and see what I can do. Like I said I'll be posting the results in here. Thanks for your assistance!
  8. Thank you again. I'm gonna try and see if I can fix it, but something tells me Online Content Unlocker is the one to blame. By the way, have you ever encountered an issue with the spawning system (trains, peds or wildlife) that persisted even after removing all mods from the game directory? I'm just curious, since it would be a real bummer having to reinstall the whole game again if that ever happens to me while testing or troubleshooting. Oh, and also, what exactly is your testing method? If you don't mind telling me of course. Apart from the famous roseate spoonbill chase, do you roam around Flatneck, Valentine or Rhodes stations like you said before, to test if train spawns are working?
  9. I just can't for the life of me understand how Stutter Fix, No Vignette and Smoking Complete mods can literally wipe out the trains from the open world. None of those edit ped pools as far as I know. At this point those three are the only mods I can't play without, but using them together simply breaks the game.
  10. Exactly. Many mod authors have said how much of a fucking mess RDR2 code is. All I can say is that everything started going downhill after that Naturalist update. A compilation of the info dominatorgt has dropped on Nexus would be very much appreciated.
  11. As we already have stated before: practically any mod can and will alter the train system. Same goes for the animal spawning system, but that one is far less noticeable for obvious reasons. Not seeing spoonbills near St. Denis can easily go unnoticeable, not seeing trains outside of a couple stations... not so much. I said the base game acts weird when it comes to dynamic stuff because that's just how it is, and that's solely on R* and their multiple and totally needless RDO updates through these last couple years. Though I have to agree that those vanilla related issues are (almost) negligible compared to the whole mess this game turns into after dropping two or three very basic .asi mods.
  12. Okay, I think I'm just starting to get it. That is probably why the conga-like spawning always happened to me when I was around Riggs Station, which is pretty empty and has 4 or 5 peds roaming around, at most. Thanks for your deep insight on the matter, I have been investigating this issue for almost a month now and couldn't help myself, now that I have carefully read all your posts here I'm starting to connect the dots. As I said, the game's code is probably held together by ducktape, and when you touch it it esentially starts sacrificing and altering vanilla behaviour because God only knows why. Thanks again. I will be keeping an eye on this thread in hoping that some miracle happens and this masterpiece of a game gets the treatment it deserves. I'm gonna keep playing modless until then. I see no point in sacrificing all the genuine dynamic stuff from base game just to be able to smoke longer or have some upscaled textures.
  13. Most people say the real problem has to do with upscalers, texture packs and/or having the stream folder filled with .ytds, but that's just not true. The engine of this game might be broken, and it really does feel like it's being held together by ducktape most of the time, but I'm very sure this is not because of using mods. That's just how the game works, inconsistently and erratically when it comes to dynamic stuff. Train and animal spawning systems act weird regardless of mods (hell, even the weather system does!) I've seen trains spawn in various parts of the map in what it seemed like a fucking conga - literally one after the other - with multiple mods installed at once (that including WhyEm'sDLC, PDO, RDO, AEM and so on). On the contrary, and funnily enough, I sometimes find myself having a really tough time trying to catch one by walking or galloping by the train tracks anywhere in the map, modded AND vanilla. And when I say vanilla I'm talking an untouched save, starting from Chapter 1, after clearing all mods and even the game's API cache. Really, I dare you to wait for a train at Valentine's train station at the start of Chapter 2. You won't see a damned train until you actually turn around and head into town, leaving the station behind you. Then and just then you'll hear it approaching. I said it was funny but it is more frustrating than anything, almost like the game is playing with you and straight up not functioning properly. Same goes with wildlife outside of missions, it's just not consistent and gets ostensibly reduced when playing for longer sessions without restarting the game or loading a save (sometimes loading a save is not enough). Anyhow, I get lots of animals (including roseate spoonbills at St. Denis roundabouts) when playing with dozens of different mods, some of them I already mentioned, but have trouble finding a simple deer in the vastness of the Heartlands when playing vanilla. The only thing that is constistent though is the fact that large upscaling projects and massive texture mods like WhyEm's AGGRAVATE the issue. They are not the root, they do not cause it, they just help the engine to break faster and completely.
  14. Alligators will always be there, no matter how many mods you have installed. Check the spoonbills and birds in general, and also trains. Anyway some people have reported no issues at all on +50 mods setups, so yeah, the whole situation is a fucking mess.
  15. I started having trouble with the trains not spawning the moment I updated WhyEm'sDLC (RDO Edition). I think the author of said mod fucked up at some point and didn't bother fixing his shit, because I have been using the mod since its first public release and didn't have a problem up until its last couple updates. That being said, finding the sweetspot on my end is being quite a task because I just don't know how much wildlife is too little, or how may peds/trams/stagecoaches are supposed to spawn in Saint Denis or any other city. Only thing I can recommend to anyone reading this is to stay away from WhyEm'sDLC and retexture/upscaling mods altogether. Now I'm using ScriptHook v2 alongside with a couple very simple .asi mods, Online Content Unlocker, Smoking Complete and RDO (standalone). I have the feeling I'm one mod away from breaking the game, so I'm gonna leave it as it is, sadly. Crazy to think no one in this community seems to be able to fix this issue.
