[Commission/Idea] General Store Business – The Ultimate Store Management Mod

A Deep, Dynamic, and Immersive General Store Owner Experience for RDR2

Project Overview

I am looking for a talented modder to create a comprehensive General Store Business mod, expanding on the concept of “Gunsmith Business” but tailored for general stores and pushing the gameplay further, with original mechanics, depth, and replayability.

This mod would allow players to fully own, manage, and customize their own general store—dealing with restocking, NPC customers, staff, prices, decor, and dynamic world events.
The vision is to deliver a true business simulation within the Wild West, making the player feel like a real entrepreneur in RDR2’s world.

Key Features

1. Purchase & Store Ownership

  • Each general store (Valentine, Rhodes, Strawberry, Saint Denis, and Blackwater) features a visible “For Sale” sign.

  • Players can purchase a store by approaching the sign and pressing E. (Blackwater is only available after the story, for realism and lore-friendly progression.)

  • Once bought, the store becomes fully owned and manageable.

2. Restock Wagon Mechanics

  • Restock wagons spawn at Emerald Ranch. Players must manually retrieve these wagons and deliver them safely to their own store.

  • Bandit attacks can occur during transport, requiring planning and possibly escorts.

  • Alternatively, hire Deliverymen to automate restocking and lower risk (but at a cost).

3. Advanced Employee System

  • Employ cashiers (to access the store management menu), guards (to reduce thefts and armed robberies), and deliverymen (for restocks).

  • Guards and deliverymen are upgradeable, with skill/protection affecting the store’s security and delivery success.

4. Fully Customizable Store

  • Players can decorate and upgrade their store (furniture, shelves, signage, lighting, exterior, etc.), which directly increases store reputation and foot traffic.

  • Visual changes reflect in the world and enhance immersion.

5. Price Management & Economics

  • Owners manually set item prices (within set ranges).

  • Smart economic system:

    • High prices = more profit, but fewer customers & lower reputation.

    • Low prices = increased traffic, but less margin.

    • Balanced prices = reputation growth, customer loyalty, and steady income.

6. Dynamic World Events

  • Risk of bandit ambushes on deliveries and store robberies.

  • Employee strikes, surprise inspections, and even random events (rare items, VIP buyers, etc.).

  • The world reacts: a badly run store gets robbed more; a highly reputable one becomes a town favorite.

7. Reputation & Progression

  • Reputation system driven by store appearance, pricing, service, and event outcomes.

  • High reputation unlocks new customers, rare items, and even unique events.

  • Players can grow from owning a single store to building a general store empire across the map.

8. Customer Interactions

  • Realistic NPC customer behavior—queuing, browsing, reacting to prices/decor, etc.

  • Owners can serve customers personally if staff are unavailable (fully playable/interactive).

Why This Mod Stands Out

  • Comprehensive business management—not just buying/selling but hiring, customizing, strategizing, and dealing with world events.

  • True integration with RDR2’s world, lore, and economy (including late-game towns like Blackwater).

  • High replay value with random events, dynamic world reactions, and customizable gameplay.

What I’m Looking For

  • Clean, modular code (C++ preferred, ScriptHookRDR2 SDK ready).

  • Save/load support for progress and customization.

  • Professional UI/UX for the management menu (ideally via the cashier NPC).

  • Open to collaboration and feedback during development.

Quick Summary (for Pitch)

“Buy and customize your own general store via a ‘For Sale’ sign, manage your staff, set prices, decorate for reputation, defend against bandits, and become the most successful merchant in the West—complete with immersive world events and progressive gameplay!”

This is actually a great idea. I'm too much a noob to even attempt something of this magnitude. Have you asked about on Discord?

No but I tried to code it but it's to much complicated for me so I deleted my project and ask someone to script it
